There's a nice park like area with pit toilets. Take the road to the end & park in the beach parking lot.īlack River Harbor - The beach lot is the $5 fee area. It turns out there's a trail on the other side of the river that has a better view. The waterfall must be very nice, but it makes a right hand turn right at the observation site & you can't get a good view. 5 miles of stairs again to a pitiful overlook. They suck! This is a very scenic waterfall though. This would be a great waterfall, but stairs are blocked due to unsafe steps. 1/8 mile barrier free for Potawatomi Falls - very nice flow. Go left when the falls road splits for the handicap area. Potawatomi Falls & Gorge Falls share a parking lot.
He made it to the point where the descent was more severe. The hike is fine, then starts to descend. The forest service needs to trim the foliage at these observation points!! If you're fit the walk shouldn't be a problem, but my hiking buddy has mobility issues & could only visit one. The road itself is very pleasant & there's 5 different waterfalls you can hike to. The only fee area we saw was by the beach & that was $5. This is a National Scenic Road in the Ottawa National Forest. We had to take a detour due to road closure in Bessemer.
